Two New Customer Reviews - The Outsiders

The Outsiders
by S.E. Hinton [j Hinton]

This book is an amazing read. It features characters Ponyboy, Sodapop Johnny, Dally, and other members of the gang. This book is set in the fifties and is about the greasers, or the lower class. When Ponyboy's friend accidentaly kills another teen in the upperr class they have to flee. They learn alot about life and different lessons. They hide in abandoned church. When a fire starts, Ponyboy and Johnny rush to get all the children who were having a picinic out. They and their friend Dally manage to get them out, but Johnny is badly injured. The gang grieves when Johnny and Dally both die. But they have learned the true meaning of family. -- review submitted by Lilly G. - a customer of the Gere Branch Library

I'm so glad that folks are still reading this book. I've loved it for many years and recommended it to some foster children I knew. (They always seemed too busy to read it, though.) I think it deserves an 11! -- review submitted by Judy G. - a customer of the Gere Branch Library
